Preparing for the X factor audition requires hard work. It’s a very important event in the year for many Xfactor participants and needs to be well planned before going to the audition. Because having an excellent voice and great singing talent may not be enough to get to the finals...

The very first audition is actually the most crucial part of getting into X factor since there are tens of thousands of audition goers that you’ll be competing with and you’ll only be given one chance to get through each stage of the audition process. Think carefully about what’s going to make you stand out among the rest of the contestants?

Before you actually perform in front of the judges like Simon Cowell you need to audition to several Xfactor staff and producers in a few rounds of pre-screened x factor auditions.  This is their ‘filter’ way to make sure that the show will be exciting and more challenging to the contestants as they will only pick the best singers to perform on tv.

Here are some X factor UK audition tips for your audition:

  • Choose a song that matches your voice. Pick something you know well enough without a need for the lyrics and pick a song that goes with your voice.

  • Since you only get to sing part of your audition song,  choose something that doesn’t have a too long intro.

  • Practice singing your song unaccompanied and make it your own, put a unique twist to the song that people have not heard before.

  • Keep your costume or outfit for the audition clean in a bag or box. You can change when your number is close, also try to avoid uncomfortable clothing such as wearing high heels to avoid unwanted accidents during your audition so you can stay focussed on giving a good performance.

  • Be prepared for the cameras as they may you while waiting and while performing so be sure to smile a lot and have fun with them.

  • While waiting try to relax, have fun and be friendly to everyone around you. Don’t over-practice and wear out your voice. Save your voice and practice in the last few hours on the run up to your audition.

  • Relax your mind and do breathing exercise to help you overcome any worries.

  • Mentally rehearse doing a great audition over and over in your head, close your eyes and see the crowds cheering, hear the applause and see the smiling judges. This mental rehearing should start weeks before your audition as it eliminates a great deal of nervousness and builds deep inner confidence.

  • If you don’t pass the first time, don’t worry, your time will come. There’s another slot for you next year and there are still countless other singing opportunities until then such as band openings, productions, shows and many other singing competitions. Keep practising and improving your talent with singing lessons so you can come back stronger than before.
